In its first three days the CrowdJustice appeal, Help the Vaults & Garden stay open, has raised an impressive £4,274.

A total of 88 backers have pledged amounts of between £5 and £999 to the campaign which has an initial target of £10,000.

The appeal aims to raise a total of £100,000 to contribute to the legal costs of the cafe defending the eviction proceedings brought by the University church led by the vicar, the Revd William Lamb.
