Save the Tree at 8239
The Issue
The City of Dallas has been threatening to cut down the 100+ year old Bodark tree in front of our home. In 35 years of living at this address, not a single person has complained or raised any kind of problem. Please help us save this tree as it’s an integral part of the “FOREST” of Forest Hills.
The tree is located on the side of the curb where traffic does not pass; rather, visitors park, construction workers gather, Amazon delivers, and so much more. (Pictured: a full size Ford F150 and the ample amount of clearance).
Bodark tree “wood is extremely hard – rated at 2,620 pounds on the Janka Hardness scale, making it one of the hardest native North American woods. It is very durable when in direct contact with the soil, resulting in it being the most rot-resistant timber in North America…Native Americans used the wood for archery bows because it has the highest work to maximum load value of any wood, giving it a rare combination of strength and flexibility.”
