Good evening all, I have your two day update on the petition.
Signatures:
Tonight as of the time of this writing we have 246 Signatures on the petition across multiple platforms. The absolute vast majority of them come from Reddit as listed in the prior update. The next two catagories are from Promotions on the change.org site and then Facebook. The next two are the organic signatures from people browsing the change.org site and strangely the least amount of signatures come from Twitter, which I found very surprising. The "unknown source" what I believe is text messages or emails which accounts for 25% of signatures. We have 8 promoters and 1,428 views and 118 shares. Below I posted the graph for your convenience.
News update:
So not much dramatic news hitting the news cycle the last two days. The mediation negotiations continue and seem to be tight lipped. Word on the street is though they may be coming to a settlement in the next few weeks or days.
However the Okaloosa County Tourism council released its plans for purchase, towing, cleaning and reefing. Which would total out to over $10 million. They also reduced their commitment to creating a land museum to only "partially fund" the museum and named the SS United States as a "dead ship" in its official release. Charming.
Why they do not buy a decomissioned aircraft carrier that is longer I do not know, but they seem intent as heck to sink this ship.
Petition update:
Added a section for a hypothetical payment scheme that is reasonable based on feedback via Reddit. Shrank the petition down so it is not so huge on the page. Fixed some grammar issues and removed some redundant data to hopefully make more appealing.
Decision maker:
Added VP Harris, President Biden and The Parks Department as Decisions makers.
Moving Forwards:
So I was thinking about it today and I would like to know if anyone is interested in becoming more organised in this fight to save SS United States. I have read some of the comments left on the petition and I hear your passions, your dispair and unhappiness. My thought was if we are more organised we could start targeted phone call, email and online campaigns so make more noise in a combined and organized effort. I have created a discord with some basic channels. I will post the link below.
