The "Spaceship House" isn't safe yet!  A virtual neighborhood meeting hosted by DelWest will be held on Aug. 25th @ 6pm.  Please click on the full update to see more details...

On 7/13/2020, Adams County posted a response to DelWest's initial application to demolish, rezone and redevelop the lots on 79th and North Pecos Street, also known as Sherrelwood Village Filing No. 2 (PRC2020-00010).  You could find the details at www.adcogov.org/planning/currentcases

Adams County included this petition in the case file and considered our pleas.  They rejected the original application!  They outlined several issues that have been brought up by the surrounding neighborhood (traffic congestion, already an area with dense residential housing, etc.) and also asked DelWest to consider excluding the "Spaceship House" from their plans due to the public's reaction to it being torn down and removed.

DelWest amended their application and resubmitted it with minimal changes.  They still plan on demolishing the former Children's Outreach Project despite how much the population wants it to remain intact and utilized as a community amenity.

To address this issue with the public per Adams County's directive, DelWest will be hosting a virtual neighborhood meeting on August 25th at 6pm.  The details have been provided below.  If you can make it to the meeting, please come aboard and support our community.  We could use your help now more than ever!!

This building is iconic to our neighborhood.  Many of us drive past it everyday and it would be devastating to see it falling to the ground in crumbles.  Not to mention that the two lots that are slated for the new buildings along with Sherrelwood Park (which is directly behind it) are the only active open spaces left in this small city.

Please, please, please share this petition with your family and friends and ask them to sign it and share it as well.  We're so close to getting 1,000 signatures!!  Adams County is listening to our concerns in regard to this matter.  Let's keep encouraging them to exclude the "Spaceship House" from these development plans and keep our ever-shrinking open spaces available for recreational public uses!

Thank you so much for your time and your participation in this case!!
