Petition updateSave the South Bank from the private Garden Bridge developmentGreat works of fiction: Lambeth planning report & the Garden Bridge Trust

Lambeth Planning has totally ignored the needs of the community and seems determined to push through an approval for the Garden Bridge whatever the cost to London or the nation as a whole: - £30 million from TfL for a transport project in the most congested part of London in an area with the highest concentration of bridges on the Thames - £30 million from the Treasury for a tourist attraction during a recession - £3.5 million maintenance costs per year and still rising - £30 million tax exemption application - £4 million from TfL to promote the project On what basis were these public consultations done? They can't be taken seriously or validated as there was no mention of the huge costs to the public. There has been a complete lack of information of the real impact on the supporting structures on the South Bank. The Garden Bridge Trust claims that 92% of local residents are supportive of the project yet when asked, they reported that these figures came from a visitor book containing under 200 signatures with no evidence to show that the majority came from local residents. Anyway, check out Heatherwick's Blue Carpet in Newcastle which was late, over budget and is ageing badly or the B for Bang in Manchester which has been melted down into scrap metal. 'Creating spectacular solutions to problems that don't really exist' - no thanks Thomas.
