Proposals for a ‘Garden Bridge’ were one vote away from defeat last night, when Lambeth councillors split 4 votes to 3 on a motion to refuse planning permission. Keep spreading the word and this petition - the Garden Bridge Trust have a whopping 46 conditions that need to be met before the bridge can go ahead. The £3 million recently donated by Citibank doesn't even cover the maintenance cost for one year; do their investors really want to be associated with another Heatherwick disaster project or bail them out e.g. B for Bang, Blue Carpet? Or will that burden fall on the public purse again? Boris Johnson who is backing the bridge, has form on bad projects e.g. Barclays bikes, Emirates Cable Car. And why should all this 'available' money go to London?
