The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is a non-profit animal welfare organization where they campaign for animal welfare, assist in cruelty to animals cases, and attempt to find new homes for unwanted animals they feel are adoptable. According to government guidelines, there should be a SPCA in every district in the country. We are several hundred SPCAs short, and the existing ones are shutting down.

SPCA Noida has been one of the most active organsations in the country with over 800 animals in their care presently. The Noida Authority is supposed to reimburse their expenditure and fund their operations ; but they routinely delay remittances. They also give the SPCA only around half the amount that is actually spent in the care and treatment of animals. Their callousness is obvious from this: funds owing to the SPCA Noida in January, 2015, have not been released till date. Employees have not received their salaries. If this is the manner in which the Noida Authority treats them, the shelter will soon shut down and all those animals (dogs, horses, donkeys, cats, birds, cattle, etc.) will lose their only home. All the shelters in India are full with animals dying simply because they do not get the care they need. Help us stop this from happening.
