Save The Shoppers Food & Pharmacy in Essex, MD

I'm Not From The Baltimore Area, But I Want To Save This Shoppers From The Closure, Because There's Certain Products People Can't Find In Other Grocery Stores.

The Shoppers Food Warehouse on Eastern Blvd has been more than just a grocery store for families like mine. It's where my family and I would do our weekly grocery shopping, knowing we’d find fresh produce, quality meats, and all the essentials we needed – not to mention familiar smiles and a sense of community.

For countless residents, Shoppers on Eastern Blvd is the store that supports our daily lives. But now, we hear the disturbing news that this essential community landmark might soon close its doors. Such closures don’t just inconvenience; they rip apart the very fabric that binds our community. The nearest alternatives require lengthy travel or lack the selection and affordability Shoppers provides. For families without reliable transportation, seniors, and those physically limited, this is a monumental and unnecessary barrier.

In Maryland, approximately 20% of households are food insecure (Feeding America), a number only exacerbated when accessible food sources are removed. Shoppers Food Warehouse on Eastern Blvd offers crucial accessibility. Its closure would negatively impact not just the economy but the wellbeing of entire communities here in Essex.

We propose collaborative solutions that could prevent this closure, such as community engagement initiatives and strategic partnerships with local stakeholders. Perhaps the incorporation of delivery or curb-side pickup services, popular due to the pandemic, can increase sales and customer retention.

It is critical that community voices are heard and action is taken swiftly to prevent irreversible loss. Essex fights to save Shoppers Food Warehouse not just for our convenience, but for the resilience it brings to our community.

Sign this petition to rally support for keeping the Shoppers Food Warehouse open in Essex. Together, we can make a difference and show the powers-that-be that this store is invaluable to our community’s heart and soul.
