The growing hostility between protesters and the administration at Cal Poly Humboldt has left the fate of the spring 2024 commencement ceremony in jeopardy of being canceled. The school has already announced its closure for the remainder of the spring semester, thereby robbing graduates of academic events that they were looking forward to and have worked so hard for in their last semester. While Cal Poly Humboldt has not notified students that their commencement ceremony has been canceled just yet, the cancellation of graduation ceremonies at other institutions such as the University of Southern California has left students here at Cal Poly Humboldt uneasy and fearful that their commencement ceremony may be robbed from them as well. 

We ask that students and their families demand the administration to avoid canceling the event and move forward with the 2024 commencement ceremony. Many families of graduating students have already invested their time and finances to travel to Arcata in order to see us walk the stage, an accomplishment that has taken years to complete. We demand that our academic achievement be celebrated for us and our families to enjoy.
