The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) has said that it is waiting to inform Premier Doug Ford that he cannot demolish the Ontario Science Centre and replace it with affordable housing, as the land is considered hazardous and is subject to city and provincial policies.

TRCA owns 81 acres of land near the Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue intersection, with the City of Toronto owning the remainder of the site.

Ford had already faced fierce criticism over his redevelopment scheme for Ontario Place and changing plans regarding the Science Centre have also drawn opposition.
