Save The Santa Fe & Belleview DIY

Save The Santa Fe & Belleview DIY
The Issue
The DIY skatepark in Littleton, CO was built by the community, for the community, and has received overwhelming acceptance from skateboarders and local residents alike. This grassroots effort was born out of a strong need for a covered, well lit and dedicated space where people, especially the youth, could express themselves, stay active, and connect with others in a positive environment. It is more than just a place to skate; it is a hub for community to grow.
Despite its popularity and the positive impact it has on our community, the DIY remains unofficial and lacks legal recognition. This lack of sanction puts both the site and its users at risk. By having it officially recognized and supported by the city of Littleton and the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), we can ensure the park's safety, accessibility, and continued operation.
Official recognition would pave the way for necessary improvements, including maintenance and safety measures compliant with city and state standards. Moreover, it would secure a lawful status for the skatepark, protecting it from potential shutdowns and ensuring it serves generations to come. Supporting this project aligns with goals of promoting healthy lifestyles, offering constructive outlets for youth, and fostering community cohesion.
We propose that the city and CDOT work together on establishing a formal agreement with the skatepark's organizers. This could involve a detailed plan for park maintenance, safety protocols, and possibly even expansion in the future to accommodate growing interest and participation.
Join us in urging the city of Littleton and CDOT to recognize the value this DIY skatepark brings to our community. Sign the petition and support a safe, vibrant space for skaters and residents in Littleton.
