Thank you to everyone who has supported this campaign so far.
At its last meeting, Swan Hill Rural City Council deferred deciding the future of the Robinvale Hotel until next Tuesday, 15 July.
This deferral allows more time for the community to review the reports and plans. It’s important that we use this opportunity to understand what is proposed and provide feedback before a final decision is made.
KEY POINTS -
The current plan includes partial demolition of the heritage building, but no asbestos assessment has been provided.
This raises important questions about health and safety considerations.
Cr Michelle Granger noted that Council would need to “consider this as a cost if they were seeking to acquire the site.”
This prompts a question for the community to consider: Would Council proceed with a partial demolition plan without key assessments and documents if they were the potential owners of the site?
We have attached the second floor extension plan of the Robinvale Hotel, designed by Robert H. McIntyre, a notable architect in the region known for his significant contributions to early 20th-century Victorian architecture. This plan helps illustrate the heritage value and scale of what is at stake.
