The Superintendent of Randolph County Schools has issued a proposal to close Uwharrie Ridge 6-12 school near Trinity, NC. As a family member with relatives who have attended and worked at the school, I am strongly in opposition to this. Daily, I witness the profound impact the institution has on the lives of its students and their families. Nestled in the heart of a rural North Carolina community, Uwharrie Ridge is more than just a school—it's a pillar of support and opportunity for countless children and families who rely on it for education, community, and connection. 

This cherished school is now facing the threat of closure, a decision that would have devastating consequences not just for the students it serves but for our entire community. The closure would displace hundreds of children, forcing them into overcrowded classrooms at neighboring schools like Southwest Randolph Middle School, thereby straining resources and diminishing the quality of education for all students involved.
