Southbank News has published a story to update local residents of a story they have been following for many years.

Talking to locals in the Southbank area there is a genuine disappointment with the decision where many had been looking forward to the implementation of ANVAM's initiative.

There are a range of interests in the building, and in what ANVAM proposes. These include activating the area with an asset available for the community, through to the opportunity for community arts centre. Others are fascinated by the historical aspects for veterans and the medical advancements, with others again are interested in the Art Deco style, which is rare in Southbank.

Assistant Minister for Defence, Hon Matt Thistlethwaite MP, from Sydney is the minister responsible for Defence's estate function. The decision to mandate more meeting rooms for Defence appears consistent with the previous Governments tendency to accept Defence's position without question. This petition provides the opportunity to express the communities support for a more appropriate use for this historical property.
