Good news folks - as promised, today Monday 22 January an application to have the POW listed as an Asset of Community Value (ACV) was submitted to Barnet Council by the East Barnet Residents Association. It makes powerful arguments in favour and contains letters of support from your three East Barnet councillors, also Dan Tomlinson Labour's general election candidate for Chipping Barnet, St Mary's vicar Alec Corio and residents who have provided memories and photos of activities at the pub. They clearly show that it is the centre of many community meetings and gatherings and is much more than a public house. The next step is that a hearing will be held by the council to examine the bid, and then the Leader of the Council will make a decision under delegated powers. We have written to Stonegate the owners and we will continue to lobby our council colleagues to prevent any change of use. Thanks so much for your continued support - Save the Prince of Wales!
