Dear Andrews University family,
I am delighted to announce that at the conclusion of the search process, Willie Hucks, DMin, has accepted the invitation to serve as the assistant to the president for Mission & Culture. In that capacity, he will also carry forward the role of diversity officer for the University.
Hucks joins the administrative team with a rich background of professional experience and expertise. Since 2016, he has served here at Andrews University as an associate professor and then as chair of the Department of Practical & Applied Theology in the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary. Prior to joining Andrews, he was associate editor of Ministry magazine and associate ministerial secretary of the General Conference. He has also served as faculty at Southwestern Adventist University and as pastor in the Southwest Region Conference.
A prolific author and engaging presenter, Hucks writes and speaks on a wide array of topics, including homiletics, the intersection of church and community, ethnicity, justice, and ministry to “the least of these.” He has also chaired the Seminary Ethnicity, Race, and Social Justice Committee for eight years.
Willie Hucks is known as a team builder, emphasizing spirituality and cooperation. He is committed to making the Bible the foundation of all that we do and to creating an engaged and compassionate community focused on God’s purpose for our lives.
As we welcome Willie Hucks to this role, which he will fully assume at the end of this spring semester, I invite you to pray for God’s special blessing on his continued ministry here at Andrews University.
Warm regards,
