To Moreland City Council & Councillors,

Residents living in the north of Moreland (Pascoe Vale, Glenroy, Oak Park, Hadfield, Fawkner Gowanbrae etc) pay the same rates and taxes as everyone else but have less access to public transport and fewer safe bike paths. 

Development in Moreland has led to congestion and it is more and more difficult for residents to move around. 

The protected bike lanes built on Kent Road and Northumberland Road give us more choices and are being used every day by residents and their families. They are a community asset for everyone. And there’s no real downside. Cars can still park and drive safely down Kent Rd; they just have to drive more slowly and mindfully, making it safer for bikes and pedestrians to get to the shops, sports, scouts, school and the medical centre without always having to use their car. 

The school on Northumberland Road and the sporting grounds on Kent Road are always going to be accessed by people in cars—protected bike lanes provide separation from traffic and safety for cyclists in these areas. 

Why should Brunswick and Coburg get all the bike lanes? Ratepayers in the north of Moreland deserve the same safety options as residents in the south.

We want the Pascoe Vale protected bike lanes on Kent and Northumberland Roads retained as community assets for everyone!
