Dear Petitioners,
With your dedicated support, we have now achieved well over 2,000 signatures and a steady stream of promotions for our cause. We are deeply grateful! Please continue to post and share this important petition so we can raise the count as high as possible.
Canada is respected on the world stage, yet the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is tarnishing our reputation with its heavy-handed and cruel actions. Our decision-makers must rein in the CFIA and demand accountability.
We ask that you take a moment to contact Prime Minister Mark Carney, Health Minister Hon. Marjorie Michel, and Agriculture Minister Hon. Heath MacDonald with your concerns. One respectful, fact-based email copied to all three will make a difference:
📧 mark.carney@parl.gc.ca
📧 marjorie.michel@parl.gc.ca
📧 heath.macdonald@parl.gc.ca
Also, please copy your own Member of Parliament (find your MP here: List of MPs).
When writing, please consider highlighting these key points:
Ban live horse exports by air for slaughter. This practice is cruel and unlawful. More details: Canadian Horse Defence Coalition. The CFIA continues to allow suffering while breaking laws, and this must end.
Order testing for the Edgewood ostriches instead of “stamping out.” The CFIA’s kill-first policy is reckless and unnecessary. Veterinarian and epidemiologist Dr. Jeff Wilson has explained why testing is the responsible choice: Dr. Jeff Wilson video.
📢 Add your voice to Parliament! Canadian citizens and residents can sign the official e-petition concerning the ostriches here: Parliamentary e-petition e-6857. Sponsored by MP Scott Anderson, this petition is quickly gaining momentum.
Thank you all for your tireless advocacy, your voices, and your support. Together, we are stronger — and together, we can demand compassion and justice.
With gratitude,
