To Our Halfpipe Advocates,
We wanted to share the latest update on the halfpipe, based on Okemo’s most recent Terrain Parks Report, as well as emails sent to employees and families involved in the Competition Center.
According to Okemo, due to snowmaking priorities across the mountain, a full 400-foot halfpipe will not be possible this season. Instead, they have stated that they are working to create a shorter, full-height halfpipe—estimated to be between 150-200 feet in length—using the available snow.
In these communications, Okemo describes this as a training space for athletes and a way to ensure that the USASA SVS halfpipe competitions can still take place in February and March.
We appreciate that Okemo is making an effort to provide a halfpipe, ensuring that terrain park skiers and riders still have a dedicated space to train, compete, and enjoy the sport.
Continued transparency and engagement will be essential to ensuring that freestyle terrain remains a clear priority in future seasons.
We will keep you updated as we learn more, and we encourage Okemo to provide more detailed and clear communication about what is being built and the long-term future of the halfpipe.
Thank you for your ongoing support—your voices continue to make a difference!
