Save Okemo HalfpipeUnited States
29 Jan 2025

I want to take a moment to provide an update and formally request an official response from Okemo regarding the future of the halfpipe.

It has now been 14 days and over 6,200 signatures—and counting—since Okemo quietly decided not to build the last full-size halfpipe in the East, a feature that has been a cornerstone of the skiing and snowboarding community for more than 20 years.

Okemo has stated that this decision was made independently of Vail Resorts’ corporate influence, with the intention of opening more terrain and extending the season into spring. Additionally, the lack of halfpipe and terrain park feedback in the weekly survey has been cited as justification for this choice. However, last weekend, trails that had not seen snowmaking in years were opened, and the survey itself does not include any questions regarding terrain parks or the halfpipe—eliminating any opportunity for direct feedback on this issue.

Okemo Mountain, your community is speaking. Please listen. The halfpipe is not just for elite athletes or a small niche—it serves everyone: parents, children, grandparents, skiers, snowboarders, and competitors across all disciplines, from freeski and snowboard to alpine racing. It is an integral part of Okemo’s identity.

The petition itself represents clear, quantifiable feedback. We urge Okemo leadership to hear us: Bring back the full-size halfpipe—and do so with transparency.

We also respectfully request an official response outlining Okemo’s plans—both for this season and the future—regarding the halfpipe. The community deserves clarity, and we look forward to Okemo’s response soon.
