Keep the Number 11 Bus Service in Bishopthorpe

The Issue

Hello!

I am sure that many of you have now received the petition to save the Number 11 bus service. If not, it should be through your letterbox soon.

The official announcement of the proposal will be made by City of York Council on Monday 23rd August.

From October, the proposal is that the Number 11 bus will route from town, to Southbank, then loop back to town, and not come to Bishopthorpe. Bishopthorpe will no longer have a bus service.

This will affect elderly/disabled people who do not drive and who rely on the bus service to get them to and from hospital appointments and social activities.

It will affect children who use the bus to get to and from school, and children who are learning to be independent and travelling with friends on the bus to town and back.

It will affect all the workers at Brunswick who don’t need to rely on others to give them lifts and they catch the bus to and from work independently (this is so important)

It will affect those of us who rely on the bus to get to and from work.

It will affect carers who come to the village on the bus to care for our most vulnerable residents.

Residents should be able to catch the bus to go into town for a meal and a few drinks then catch the bus home without having to pay for taxis.

The list can go on and on.

Carole Green has printed out the petitions and Volunteers have been posting them through letterboxes today.

If you prefer to sign online or you haven’t received a paper petition, please sign this one!!

This bus service is so important to the community and we need to save it!

Thank you
