Community, We Need Your Voice!

As a small business owner in the NIA Center (the economic opportunity campus) and advocate for West Louisville, I’m asking for your support.

Despite earlier assurances that TARC had no plans to sell the building and expressing our interest to purchase if ever placed on the market, tenants were abruptly notified on 5/29/25 that our leases were terminated—and that a deal is underway to sell the NIA Center for another affordable housing project (which in 24-hrs has now turned into a shelter). We were never consulted or informed in advance.

Our community already has three housing developments within two miles. Why not preserve this space for something just as essential—a business hub for small-, minority- and women-owned businesses, with direct access to transit, services, and opportunity?

This is more than a building. It’s a vital resource for West Louisville—offering driver’s license access, job support, mental health services, eateries, tech repair, and more.

We’re not against development. We’re asking to be included—to have a chance to purchase, to expand, and to stay!
