Save the National Forest Landscape from a 60metre incinerator

Save the National Forest Landscape from a 60metre incinerator
The Issue
We urgently need your help to protect the National Forest and South Derbyshire district from a proposed 60-metre tall (200ft) waste incinerator that would permanently scar our precious landscape and harm wildlife.
We already have another substantial incinerator just 3km away - we don't need a second one devastating our community. Derbyshire County Council even say we don't need another incinerator and are fighting against this.
Why This Matters:
Destruction of Natural Heritage: This massive industrial facility would tower 40 metres above the tree line, causing permanent damage to the National Forest landscape and surrounding Green Belt that can never be undone. The planning assessment confirms 'significant harm to the visual amenity and character of the area'. The design is described as 'functional' and 'utilitarian'
Wildlife at Risk: Nearly 5 hectares of the Cadley Hill Railway Area Wildlife Site would be destroyed - home to great crested newts, badgers, bats and rare species. The woodland there is show on historial maps dating back to the 1830s. This precious habitat cannot be replaced.
Health & Environment:
We are told the trucks and emissions would worsen air quality along the already-polluted A444 corridor and the effects could reach up to 10km away (as far as Ashby De La Zouch)
The type of incinerator would emit over 4 times more CO2 per unit of electricity than the current UK grid average (although they claim this one may emit less).
There would be 24/7 noise impact on homes just 150 metres away.
Traffic Chaos:
There would be around 200 extra HGV movements every day through our villages and past local schools, on roads that are already congested and dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists.
The Facts:
Location: Within the National Forest, South Derbyshire
Height: 60 metres (200ft) - visible for miles around
Operating Hours: 24/7
Distance to Nearest Homes: Just 150 metres
Wildlife sites it will destroy: 5
Already Rejected by the District and County councils but we are now facing an appeal.
