The Mural Wall in Graw Alley, Havre de Grace, isn't just paint on a wall; it's a vibrant narrative of our city's history, painstakingly brought to life by Ezra Berger, a beloved artist who has touched the hearts of everyone in this community. Tragically, Ezra has passed away, but his legacy lives on through this magnificent mural. It is a work of art that has seen countless residents and visitors stop, admire, and learn about the rich tapestry of our past.

The mural captures pivotal moments in Havre de Grace’s history, from its humble beginnings to its evolution into the bustling, culturally-rich city we inhabit today. It is not merely an artistic expression, but a significant cultural asset that educates, inspires, and instills a great sense of pride among the city's residents. Its existence adds character to our streets and serves as a gathering spot for community members and tourists alike.

Sadly, this cherished mural is now under threat. There is talk of the wall being torn down, which would be a significant loss to our cultural landscape and heritage. Losing this mural would mean erasing a part of Havre de Grace's identity, and with it, the stories of courage, growth, and culture that it so beautifully portrays.

We are calling on the Harmerstown Board of Directors, HdG city council and community leaders to recognize the importance of preserving these mural walls.  Solutions such as cataloging it as a protected heritage site, or incorporating its maintenance into community development plans, should be considered to ensure its longevity.
