Dear friends and supporters,
On this Valentine’s Day, we want to send our love and deepest thanks to every single one of you who has signed the petition to save the Mousehole Harbour bus stop. Today marks the final day - after more than 90 years - that the bus will stop in the harbour. It’s a moment filled with sadness for our village, because this isn’t just a timetable change. It’s the loss of something woven into the heart of Mousehole.
From next week, many of our neighbours and visitors will face real challenges accessing transport: older residents, people with mobility difficulties, parents with young children, and anyone for whom the steep hill simply isn’t manageable when doing simple tasks like the weekly shop. This decision affects lives, independence, and the sense of connection that public transport should protect.
We want to take a moment to honour the wonderful and skilled First Bus drivers who have served this community with such care. To mention just a few - Dave and Adele - your time driving a bus into the harbour may be ending for now, but your kindness, humour, and steady presence have meant more to this village than words can express. We love you, and we are so grateful for everything you’ve given Mousehole.
And to all of you standing with us: thank you so much. Your signatures, your voices, your determination - they matter. As the saying goes, “It’s not over until it’s over.” And it’s not over. Not while we still care. Not while this village - and all those who cherish it - still have a voice.
We’ll keep fighting for the things we love, because Mousehole deserves to remain accessible to everyone and essential services should be moving forward, not slipping back.
We need your help now more than ever. Please keep sharing the petition, keep talking about what this means for Mousehole - its residents and visitors alike, and keep showing that this little Cornish village is not giving up. Every signature, every share, every conversation helps us push for the review our community deserves.
With love, hope, and determination,
All of us at the Save the Mousehole Harbour Bus Stop Campaign
