Walmart has purchased the Monroeville Mall. This mall, apart from what all it means to the locals, meets the criteria to be placed on the national registry of historic places. 

It was the largest shopping mall in the U.S., it was the location of the legendary film Dawn of the Dead, and, more personally it's where I proposed to my wife.
