Mayor Levine Cava and Sup. Dotres are the decision makers that can save the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center! Here is the history.

• On September 5, 2025, the Biscayne Nature Center received a notice from Miami-Dade County that their longtime partnership would end. This license agreement has nothing to do with the 40 year ground lease.
• The notice stated all programs must stop by November 23, 2025.

The history of Marjory's Biscayne Nature Center:

1. The Biscayne Nature Center has a 40 year ground lease that was amended to start in 2000. 
2. The Dade County Public School System and the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center (Biscayne Nature Center) received state-backed investment through Florida's public education capital outlay (PECO) to build the Biscayne Nature Center.

What is happening:

• Mayor Levine Cava has not responded to multiple requests to meet with the BNC.
• If Mayor Cava's administration follows through with kicking out the Biscayne Nature Center, we must go to the State and let them know of the violation of the original state funding. Cava's administration is already under a State audit.
