Save the Intelligent Life: Stop the Death Penalty
El problema
An immensely smart man dear to us is facing a grim and irreversible fate - the death penalty. He is a man full of life, intelligence, and potential. This man has the capability to contribute positively to society if afforded the opportunity to reform. Despite his current circumstances, he possesses a mind that could pave the way for a better future, if given a second chance. Numerous studies confirm that death penalty is not a deterrent for the most serious crimes - it is an archaic, costly, and ineffective solution. A report by National Research Council published in 2012 acknowledges that there is no credible evidence to support the argument that the death penalty acts as a deterrent (National Research Council, 2012). More importantly, human lives are at stake, each of them unique and precious. It's time to reflect on whether such high-cost punishment actually serves its purpose or it simply strips off another chance of reform, especially for those who could greatly contribute to our society. Let us come together to ask for mercy and second chances. Do not let a great mind be wasted in such a way. We call for justice and mercy. Please, sign this petition and help us save a brilliant life from the clutches of a dire fate.
