📣 THE NUMBERS
The petition has now topped out at 15,121 signatures ✍️
That’s around 15 times what I expected, so first of all… thank you. Truly 🙏
From the start, I was told this wouldn’t change minds or reverse decisions.
That was never the point.
This was about making sure the strength of feeling was understood 💪
📊 THE REACTION
BBC Radio Scotland expected some backlash.
I don’t think they expected this level of it.
📧 NO REPLY (YET)
Last week I emailed asking for a short meeting to formally hand the petition in.
Five working days passed — no acknowledgement.
So this morning I sent a polite reminder.
I’m not holding my breath 😐
🚆 NEXT STEP
Next week I’ll go to Glasgow to hand it over in person.
If any of you fancy coming along, it would be lovely to meet you ☕
If they meet us, great.
If not: “BBC refuse to meet campaigners.”
Either way, we show up.
📄 WHAT I’LL HAND OVER
Not the full petition — just a clear summary:
the numbers, the concerns, and selected comments.
That’s as far as the petition can go formally.
⚠️ THE REAL ISSUE
Scottish artists are losing a national shop window 🎶 And listeners are loosing the chance to hear new original Scottish music. Over a thousand plays a year of Scottish music are disappearing.
That’s the heart of this.
🤝 SUPPORT & SILENCE
I’ve had encouraging high-level support, but full meetings won’t happen until mid-January.
I’m still waiting to hear from the Culture Secretary.
👂 THE LISTENERS
Around 95% of comments are from listeners.
Over 14,000 people who care about Scottish music being heard.
Their voices matter.
❓ WHAT NOW?
Is there appetite for a longer-term campaign —
"Keep Scottish Music on BBC Radio Scotland?"
What do you think. Let me know via email or my FB page. Links below
❤️ WHY I’M STILL HERE
I’m not a touring musician.
Music isn’t my career.
But I care deeply about the people for whom it is. Do you want to join me.
