The Issue

Sign this petition to show the Watauga City Council that you oppose the destruction of the W.R. Thomas Running Quarter Horses property by developers.

More Information

This property located at 6401 Chapman Road in Watauga includes roughly 30 acres of farmland for grazing horses. The field is beautiful, historic, and home to many species of animals, some of whom are endangered and supposed to be protected by law. Dozens of Watauga citizens have backyards that border the field and love their dwelling partly for this reason. The land, which has been in tact and owned by the same family since before Texas joined the U.S., is in danger of being sold and completely bulldozed. Because this requires the approval of the councilmen, your support can persuade them to prevent this from happening!

What else can you do?

Firstly, send this petition to others! There are about 25,000 Watauga citizens, and we need to show a majority in opposition. Email the members of the Watauga City Council to show your concern for this issue. Some council members may want to see this development happen for the sake of greater income generation, so share your ideas on how the property could generate substantial income with the horse field kept in tact, such as a petting zoo, theme park, or anything else. If you are in the area, please also attend future public council meetings every other Monday evening at 6:30pm. Go to https://www.cowtx.org/ for more information and the contact information for our city council members. Thank you for your support of saving the horse field!
