Save the historic ticket office at Caerphilly train station

Save the historic ticket office at Caerphilly train station
The Issue
Caerphilly County Borough Council have submitted a planning application to demolish the old ticket office which sits alongside Cardiff Road railway bridge; as part of a wider redevelopment project.
The building is the only one of its kind in Wales.
The local authority will decide if their proposals should be approved, and there is no right of appeal if consent is granted to erase yet another piece of Caerphilly's built heritage.
Historic buildings are an important physical record of past activity and provide a point of reference for a community's collective memory. The destruction of this distinctive building will effectively wipe away a key historical landmark which directly links back to the industrial development of Caerphilly as a railway town.
This petition calls for a review of the proposed designs to conserve and retain the old ticket office as an integral part of any redevelopment of the station area. And to better reflect the town's rich railway heritage as part of the new Metro proposals.
Make a direct representation to Caerphilly County Borough Council by writing to planning@caerphilly.gov.uk using reference 23/0771/FULL as the subject heading.
For anyone with a firm view that the building should be listed as a heritage asset, please email CADW at cadw@gov.wales — explaining why you think the building may meet the criteria for listing.
