Heart of Huskisson Campaign Group

We did it - we saved the Heart of Huskisson!!
For those of you who haven't heard the great news - Council's bid won the tender so that means the block will go into public ownership.
Council's media release says:
While this is a huge win for the local community, Council has been very upfront about this land being operational and the need to protect ratepayer’s money. Council will obviously be looking to protect the unique views from the site however there will need to be some sort of commercial activation in order to help fund the ongoing maintenance and management of the block.
The Mayor said Council would need to consult with the community prior to the future development of the site.
We are all thrilled with this outcome and look forward to working with Shoalhaven City Council. At this stage we don't know what their potential plans are, but we do know that they have committed to not compromising the view from Owen Street in a council motion.
We would like particularly like to thank Shoalhaven City Council and the board of Club Jervis Bay for making positive decisions that will benefit the whole Jervis Bay community as well as the wider regional economy.
Thank you to all the people who helped with this extraordinary campaign donating time, expertise, pro bono advice, drawings, research and communication skills. Jervis Bay residents and fans spent hours leafleting, manning a stall, lobbying, writing letters and emails and supporting committee members.
We thank the Heart of Huskisson committee: Garry Kelson from Huskisson Woollamia Community Voice, Ben Hutchings from Jervis Bay Tourism and Paperbark Camp, Wendy Smith from Huskisson Chamber of Commerce and Beyond the Beach, Belinda Bunter from The Waterhouse and Kate Broadhurst from Jervis Bay Tourism and Huskisson Bed and Breakfast, all of whom worked incredibly hard over a busy summer to make this happen. Huge and grateful thanks go to Rachael Stewart, our campaign consultant.
We are holding a GENERAL MEETING and CELEBRATION EVENT - open to all those who have supported us in any way. DETAILS HERE:
