Welcome!

I started this petition for the community of Hamilton and surrounding areas across Lanarkshire & for the families who should be gaining and benefiting mentally and physically from having a health and leisure facility in thier local area . The Water Palace is a shadow of its former self and not operating at the standards a public leisure centre should be. With Abandoned indoor and outdoor pools for years and broken down Jacuzzis,  with no repairs being put in place, we need to come together and push for funds as we deserve better . All of us. 

When the Hamilton Water Palace first opened in 1995 it was South Lanarkshire Leisure's most popular swimming pool boasting an average of over 1,000 visits a day...seriously 1000 people per day!! Hard to believe when we look at it now :( ....

For years it was the heartbeat of Hamilton's local community for families and friends to gather , have a swim,  keep fit and have a good laugh! With the excitement of the only outdoor swimming pool in the whole of Lanarkshire, countless Jacuzzi areas,  thrilling water slides...it was a great time ...and kids from " back then" got to experience fun on thier doorstep . Our generation of children today are missing out! And future generations if this erosion is allowed to continue 

It was THRIVING... and it still Should be....

I started this petition after I visited the premises to enquire about a membership because my memories of the Water palace had always been great. The staff, the facilities and the lovely cafeteria and its atmosphere at the end of a fun filled day never left me. I hadn't been back since 2018 , but there was alot even at that point that was shut including thier outdoor area and one of the water slides which used to bring in different generations throughout the years. 

The staff are still great and welcoming....however there is hardly anyone there anymore...and the only main pool open is the 25mm and its CONSTANTLY out of order with heating issues. Affecting swimmers and learners there for lessons....here's what I seen first hand...and the reason we all need to sign this petition 

"Yesterday I visited the Hamilton water palace. I was shocked that this outdoor area has been closed and lying vacant for the last 7 years.... AN OUTDOOR POOL in Lanarkshire...anyone who remembers the water palace at its peak it was a great place and full of amazing childhood memories.  The whirl pool and water slides are all still closed and the Jacuzzi has been broken in the steamroom now for YEARS. Nobody is fixing it. Why is this once thriving Leisure Centre being allowed to ERODE and where's the investment? The health benefits for local families . Such a waste when so  many people could be using these facilities! Not every family can afford exotic holidays and an outdoor pool or private facilities costing 100s of pounds. So why are people not speaking about what's happened to our waterpalace?Let's get this back up to the same standards required at all facilities. Think of the fun the kids should be having if this place was opened for the summer holidays !  @Hamiltonwaterpalace
