On the 10th July 2023, First Bus Greater Glasgow announced their decision to cut all night bus services from the end of July. 11 services will be cut, affecting Clydebank, Paisley, Newton Mearns, East Kilbride, Hamilton, Motherwell and Wishaw. 

First Bus claim the services are being cut because of poor passenger numbers, and people's safety doesn't appear to have been factored in when this decision was taken. The reality is that people depend on the night bus for work, or even returning from a night out. This decision will disrupt people's lives, negatively impact the night time economy, create more dependence on the car, and undoubtedly hamper our ability to meet climate change targets. 

For many, public transport is an essential service. First Bus should reverse this decision and work instead to maintain and reform their night bus services.
