Wetherspoons has announced it is to sell The George in Wanstead to another chain that will convert it to a gastro pub. It will become far more expensive and many of the current clientele - young people in their late teens and early 20's and old people 60+ - will no longer be able to afford to go there. It has great character and staff and true East End atmosphere. Let's plead with Tim Martin (the Wetherspoons owner) and Sir Alan Sugar the Freeholder, to leave as is.
