Save the future playground for Hermitage Primary School

Save the future playground for Hermitage Primary School
The Issue
The Annex site in the middle of Hermitage Primary School's grounds has been earmarked for development without consultation with parents and carers. Argyll and Bute Council are currently deciding what to build on this site in the centre of our playground.
Our school is in desperate need of additional outdoor play space. Our current playground floods when it rains and is on a camber that makes ball games and sports impossible. The Annex is in the centre of the playground and makes up around 50% of the potential outdoor education space for our children.
Outdoor learning is essential for our children's development and yet there is no green space at all within the school grounds. Outdoor learning at the nearby park is not always possible.
We want to protect this space to use for outdoor play and learning. We have only a few months to show the Council how important this piece of land is to our children. They have marked it as "surplus to requirement" but no consultation has been carried out to determine this and we need urgently to demonstrate that we wish for this ground to remain part of our childrens' playspace.
Please sign this petition and share widely to show Argyll and Bute Council that we value our children's outdoor education and that we wish to use the Annex site as part of our school playground.
The Parents for Active Learning (PAL) Committee is taking action as members of the school community. If you can help with our efforts to save this playground site, please contact the PAL Committee via the Hermitage Primary Parents' Council: HPPCenquiries@outlook.com
