Save the existing Free parking spaces in Ulverstone CBD!
The issue
Having lived and shopped in Ulverstone my whole life, I can personally attest to the importance of convenient parking. Access to free parking spaces directly influences my shopping decisions, and I know many others feel the same way. When people can easily park near their destination, they are more likely to shop in the central business district (CBD), boosting foot traffic, reducing the reliance on online shopping due to parking difficulties, and ultimately benefiting local retailers.
However, the proposed Reibey Street Revitalisation Project threatens to reduce the number of available free parking spaces by incorporating gardens and outdoor dining areas into the design. While beautification and dining opportunities are valuable, they should not come at the cost of existing free parking. Future modifications should improve current parking setup and support the local economy and provide convenience for consumers.
Ulverstone, TAS, relies on its local businesses for economic stability. By maintaining free parking spaces, we can ensure that the CBD remains accessible and appealing to both locals and visitors. This decision is about fostering a vibrant community, where businesses thrive, and shopping remains a pleasant experience without the looming stress of finding a parking spot.
I urge the local council to rethink elements of the Reibey Street Revitalisation Project. It’s essential to strike a balance between enhancing our town's aesthetic and preserving the practical benefits that free parking offers.
Please sign this petition to help preserve our free parking spots and support Ulverstone's economy. Together, let's keep Ulverstone a convenient and prosperous hub for all shoppers and retailers.
