We, the undersigned call upon Guildford Borough Council to guarantee the long-term future of the Electric Theatre as a community theatre.

This much-loved, landmark venue in Guildford opened in 1997 after campaigning and financial investment by GATA (Guildford Amateur Theatre Association). It is now closed and its future hangs in the balance.

The Electric Theatre has been at the heart of Guildford’s cultural life for nearly three decades. It provides a dedicated space capable of hosting a full theatrical experience for local community performers and audiences.

We urge the Council to:

• Keep the Electric Theatre as a theatre for community use
• Ensure amateur theatre plays a key role alongside professional productions and other local arts
• Guarantee long-term commitment to the support, upkeep and maintenance of the site
