Save the Drag Strip
Save the Drag Strip
I don’t know who in the development team thought it would be a good idea to shut down the only Phoenix area drag strip but your killing the dreams and passions of thousands of families. Our community has supported not only your drag strip but your stores , your restaurants, your casinos, and every other business you have in this area. Your way of thanking everyone is shutting down the only Phoenix area drag strip for a freeway over pass. I’m just one person with a small family that will no longer have a place to fulfill our dreams because of this foolish choice. But you should know there are thousands of families and kids that will be hurt from this decision. There is ample space just south of the Strip for you to build this road. I’m sure that undeveloped land would be a much cheaper option and it would allow the track to live on ! Here’s is just a few of the hearts your breaking and there are thousands more.
Be sure to share and add some of your own pictures. And send it to anyone you can find associated with wild horse pass. Not that it will change their mind but at least they can see the affect it will have on the community. -Robert Towne
I want the management of wild horse pass to meet the Edwards, we have supported your facility for close to 30 years! We have raised our children there- our racing community is not something that should just be thrown to the side because you got a better offer, I invite every fan and racer to post your picture so they can see our faces. You are making a huge impact on a lot of racers lives with your decision and it’s definitely not something that should be “celebrated”. Because you have decided that an over pass would benefit you better.-Nicole Edwards
So sad. It is difficult for the community and racers from miles away to understand. The Nation has acres of land undeveloped. This property is a developed operating facility. The Nation has done a great job keeping the facility operating and offering a huge variety of car racing and events. I would think this is something to maintain and be proud. This has to be one of the largest facilities to have the multi function offer in the United States. As I started out “so sad”.-Paul cotton
Say it ain't so! This is terrible news for us AZ fans in general. I would certainly hope that it'll come back sometime soon. Here in Tucson we have an NHRA sanctioned track: Tucson Dragway. A good track with some upgrades could be a fantastic event!-MarLeo Felix
Wow this sucks. Use to be our home track when we lived in Phx for 14 years. Also lost our old home track Englishtown some years back when we lived two miles from there for many many years. I'm heartbroken to see them go little by little. Sorry Houston I guess you are also on the chopping block. -Yvonne McSharry
