Parents and other adults in the community have a responsibility to advocate for the needs of the children, the whole child, not just the student sitting in the classroom.  Accepting DMUSD's dramatic reduction of the field at Del Mar Heights School would be forsaking that responsibility.  Losing so much of that open, recreational field space undermines our elementary aged school children's ability to be successful students in the classroom, and it also negatively impacts the overall health and well-being of all the children in our community. We are so lucky to have a community member, here in Del Mar, that really took that responsibility to heart and came up with a positive, creative, solution. Rolf's alternative rebuild design (which I referenced in my last update) retains the wonderful classroom and design elements of the district's plan, but makes it better and safer - AND it returns a significant amount of field space and blacktop to our children. 

Come to the DMUSD Board Meeting on Wednesday, February 26th at 5:45 PM at the District Office Training Center, 11232 El Camino Real, San Diego CA 92130. Come stand with us to SAVE OUR FIELD and rebuild the right school for the children of Del Mar.
