Hawkesbury Junction Update from CRT on Service Facilities

Update from CRT on Service Facilities

"As you may be aware, the Canal & River Trust released a Customer Service Facilities: Policy Statement earlier this year (May 2025), outlining their decision to close all non-essential customer service buildings across the network. Sadly, this means that the Hawkesbury toilet block’s proposed renovation is no longer happening and is scheduled for full closure"  This is happening all over the network

The Canal & River Trust (CRT) who are responsible for this building initially closed it due to its unsafe condition due to lack of maintenance (the building is sound, however the roof needs attention).  We need to ensure that CRT repair and maintain this building for the future and not take the easy option of leaving it empty so it continues to degrade until there is no option but to demolish it - what happens to land then?

We must act if these buildings are to be saved for the future, to ensure that they are not demolished or sold off.   The canal network needs your help to survive, please sign this petition to ensure that can happen and in urging the CRT to act responsibly.
