Dear Friends and Supporters,
Thank you to all who supported.
We've now sent out the results of our petition to all those parties mentioned in the petition.
As expected, none of them, except for the SA HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION bothered to respond to the petition.
Early this month I decided to try and "convince" the KZN Dept of Environmental Affairs to take action. I received a response and the matter was referred to the Durban Office for action. Thereafter a meeting on site was convened with KZN Environmental Affairs and eThekwini Environmental Planning & Climate Protection Dept.
A discussion of the historical and legal matters ensued. The KZN Dept conveyed their apologies for the delays in investigating the matter and problems that occurred in the past as a result.
They promised that they will be taking action against the responsible parties .
They were reminded that if no action was taken by the 3rd August 2017, LEGAL ACTION against the KZN Dept will ensue ...
If you would like to assist in any way, or would like to share information on the cemetery or what has happened there, please email me on savethecemetery@gmail.com
thanks & regards
Kuben
