Save The Broadalbin Beach From Closing

Save The Broadalbin Beach From Closing
The Issue
The DEC has released a Broadalbin Boat Launch Draft Management Plan where it outlines the plan to remove the beach and repurpose the area with stone. If this happens, there will be no public beach access in Broadalbin on the Great Sacandaga Lake. In June 2022, the town of Broadalbin decided to no longer operate the beach which in turn relinquished the beach to the DEC. The DEC then created a new management plan.
There are improvements to be made but this should be done with community input. Please include your solutions oriented comments in the box below + sign the petition to reevaluate this plan/renegotiate the status of the once thriving Broadalbin beach for the Broadalbin residents.
In addition to signing this petition and voting against the repurposing plan and closure of the Broadalbin Beach, you can contact the DEC directly.

"I also have the FOIL compilations from the Sheriff's Department and this beach is not "a high crime area" which was a major reason for "closing the beach" which then became "removal of the beach and put in a boat dock" by the DEC. What the report showed was that the worst crime area was the boat launch, not the beach." - Local Resident J. Bohne
