Today (19th January 2026), we have passed the 1,500 signatures threshold and at a critical moment in this campaign.

I (the petition starter) saw Class 455 trains stored at Wimbledon as recently as yesterday (18th January). 

As the petition starter, all I want is for at least a Vossloh Kiepe traction motor, third-rail contact shoe, window, door, Westinghouse compressor, speedometer or brake preserved from one of these units, nothing else. A driving cab preserved would be a bonus, however!

These trains are just as historically important as the steam engines and when I discovered Orthodox Easter fell on both its earliest and latest dates within the time the class has been in service, this has made me realise how crucial it is for one of these units to be preserved!
