Save the Balloch Information Centre from Closure

Save the Balloch Information Centre from Closure
The Issue
With a history dating back to the 1980's, the Balloch Information Centre is an invaluable resource for visitors arriving from Glasgow and beyond. I, the author of this petition, served as an advisor at Tarbet Visitor Information Centre for five years and occasionally covered shifts at Balloch. Even in our technologically advanced age, it was clear to see the continual need for and reliance on these local institutions. The Centre remains immensely busy, catering to an audience that often lacks access to technology like computers or smartphones at home. The foreign visitors, particularly, find immense value in the human touch, the face-to-face interaction that the Centre provides.
The staff provides expert knowledge of the area, helping guests with a myriad of activities and handing out maps with carefully curated itineraries for a perfect day out in Balloch. With the imminent closure scheduled for September 2024, we're already mourning all the services that will be lost if we fail to act.
As the people of West Dunbartonshire, we've seen the positive impact the Balloch Information Centre has on both locals and tourists alike. Its closure goes against the interests of our community and threatens the visitor experience in Balloch - a town that is proud of its welcoming spirit and heritage. We cannot stand by, we must voice our concern and bring about change. Save the Balloch Information Centre - sign this petition today, for the heart and history of Balloch, and to keep the town welcoming and accessible for all.
