Rrëqebulli i Ballkanit është një specie e rrezikuar në shkallë kritike - vetëm rreth 40 ose 50 individë janë raportuar të ekzistojnë në total – 5-6 prej të cilëve jetojnë në malin e Munellës ne Pukë dhe Mirditë (në të kaluarën kjo kafshe e veçantë është parë edhe në pyjet e Krrabit e të Kunorë Dardhës).

Fatkeqësisht vendbanimi i tyre eshte shkatërruar nga prerja e pyjeve pa kriter dhe tashmë rrëqebulli i Ballkanit përballet edhe me gjuetinë e paligjshme – sic duket edhe ne foto.

Ne i bëjmë thirrje qeverisë shqiptare dhe autoriteteve lokale që të marrin masat përkatëse për të shpallur Munellën si dhe malet Krrabit e Kunorë Dardhës një zone të mbrojtur. Kjo është e vetmja mënyrë për të mbrojtur rrëqebullin e Ballkanit si dhe specie të tjera te rralla të kësaj zone. Kjo është edhe e vetmja mënyre për të nxitur turizmin e një ekonomi të qëndrueshme në një zone që përndrysh është mjeruar nga demtimi natyror në 25 vitet e fundit.

Ky peticion është nisur nga 4 vëllezër e motra (Adelina, Linda, Eduard dhe Alfred Alia), nga Kryeziu i Pukës, një fshat që e zbukurojne majat madheshtore të Munellës, Krrabit e Kunorë Dardhës.

Ne jemi duke i bërë thirrje aktivistëve të të drejtave të kafshëve në mbarë botën por mbi te gjitha kerkojme mbështetjen e banoreve nga Puka e Mirdita.

The Balkan lynx is a critically endangered species - only about 40 or 50 individuals are reported to exist in total. About 5-6 of these have been reported to live in the Munella mountain in the district of Puka and Mirdita (previously the lynx was seen also at Krrabi and Kunorë Dardha mountains nearby).

Recent illegal wood logging and forest fires have totally destroyed the habitat of the lynx (home to many other rare species too).

Reports in the media show that some of these lynxes now left without a natural habitat have been killed by illegal hunters.

We call on the Albanian Government and local authorities to take adequate measures for the immediate protection and conservation of the mountains of Munella as well as Krrabi and Kunorë Dardha as a crucial area for the survival of the Balkan lynx (and other rare species) in Albania.

This petition is launched by 4 brothers and sisters (Adelina, Linda, Eduard and Alfred Alia) who grew up in grew up in Kryezi, a village in Puka, which is adorned by the majestic views of the above-mentioned mountain peaks.

The petitioners are calling on animal rights activists around the world for support on this extremely important issue which unfortunately receives very little attention in Albania.
