It was announced on February 24, 2022 that Warner Bros. Discovery would be getting out of the fundamentally broken and declining Regional Sports Network business. The company, which operates three AT&T SportsNet-branded channels in Denver, Houston and Pittsburgh and has a minority stake in the Root Sports channel in Seattle, has told teams that they have until March 31 to reach an agreement to take their rights back. If the RSNs can’t reach deals with the teams, the channels will have no other option but to move forward with a Chapter 7 liquidation filing, resulting in thousands of jobs being lost and teams scrambling to find other ways to broadcast their games.

The reason I created this petition is to try and save the AT&T regionals and the jobs that come with them. Whether it's NBCUniversal, E.W. Scripps, or CBS, these media companies need to look at what's going on with these RSN's and save them from potential failure. A purchase of the networks can not only save the thousands of jobs that could be lost, but it will allow those with traditional pay TV to continue following their teams, even during a time where the future of Regional Sports Television is on the ropes.
