Enfield council plans to cancel assisted transport for clubs for older people who are severely sight impaired, earlier known as blind and partially sighted. The transport currently provides for Merrion, Geranium and Craft clubs. This will result in the closure of these vital clubs, two of which have been running for over 40 years.  This has caused a lot of distress and anxiety for them. They will not be able to attend without safe vehicle and escort. The club is the major social opportunity for many of them and they are likely to become isolated if they are unable to attend the club. Most of them have other co existing life changing illness. Please sign this petition to ask Enfield council NOT to cancel funding for the transport for these social clubs. Enfield council now seems to be saying blind and partially sighted people should apply to social care legislation for any transport help and they will continue to defund existing arrangement. This is only creating restrictions and I request you to continue to show your support so the council does not remove its current funding for our transport. Many thanks,
