Hello everyone!
I wish you all a safe, happy, and healthy new year as we are beginning 2023. I am so happy to share with you all that I was offered by local preservation group "Progress Through Preservation" to take a tour of the inside of the ABJ building. This will be a wonderful opportunity to really understand the surface condition of the building, its architectural details that remain, and a rough idea of the work that might be done (I am not an inspector, but I hope to gain a general idea of the condition and what is left).
Additionally, I plan to be at the next meeting of Akron's Urban Design and Historical Preservation Committee in February with the hope to present my petition and state my case. All of this is with the hope that I can convince the committee to block the owner's demolition permit application, which is the first hurdle to cross in the process. Should this fail, I am committed to push for saving this building by reaching out to city council (as they are among the next line for decision making)
Once again, thank you all for being apart of this journey. I am so glad to have so many supporters and those interested in preserving local history. Please continue to share this petition and get the word out to all whom might be interested. We can save this building together.
