Happy 2023 to supporters of the 3 Jackson MUNI bus in San Francisco!
In the next few days this petition will be sent to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) which decides the fate of the 3 Jackson bus line that San Franciscans have been using for over 100 years. We need as many signers as possible this week to get this bus back!
If you know anyone who has not yet signed the petition, please reach out to them by forwarding this information. This past Monday, I emailed respective members of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors because the 3 Jackson MUNI route specifically traverses the following 3 Districts:

Email your District Representative at City Hall to thank them in advance for supporting local transit and ask them to focus on restoring the 3 Jackson bus line for their constituency.

On January 17, 2023 I attended the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) Board Meeting in person to make a public comment. This is what I said:
A new year is often a great time to reflect on past years. And so I ask you to think back for a moment to early 2020 when most everyone’s life was disrupted in almost every way. San Franciscans didn’t know how to make-do without public transportation or when it would return. We learned it’s not easy to live in a continual state of ambiguity.
Over time, we watched San Franciscans return to work, to school, to local businesses and to their usual MUNI buses.
And yet, at the start of 2023, the riders of the 3 Jackson are still living in the disruption and ambiguity of 2020. Those of us who live along significant portions of the 3 Jackson route struggle to get between multiple neighborhoods, to work, to the Financial District, to Union Square, and most of all navigating the steep hills.
Without the 3 Jackson, our lives, and particularly the lives of senior citizens and the disabled, are still disrupted. We struggle every day to obtain basic necessities like groceries, health care or just the simple pleasure of socializing at a local restaurant.
We are asking for acknowledgement from SFMTA that the 3 Jackson bus line will be returned in its entirety at an optimal frequency during 2023 so we can ALL have a happy new year.
If you took action on the following recommendations in 2022, please make it your new year resolution to bring back the 3 Jackson bus in 2023 and practice these effective actions now.
· Regularly and repeatedly leave a public comment to SFMTA by dialing “311” in San Francisco
· Write to the SFMTA Board of Directors at One South Van Ness Avenue, 7th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94103 or email them at MTABoard@SFMTA.com
